HELPING HAITI THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY:
Photographer to donate event proceeds to American Red Cross
EVERETT, WASHINGTON March 27, 2010 – Irene Jones Photography, a locally based portrait studio, is helping those affected by the Haiti earthquake by donating 100% of proceeds from every print package sold to the American Red Cross during the Helping Haiti Through Photography Portrait Event.
Portrait sessions begin at 9am on Saturday the 27th and will go to 6pm that day. Each session will be between 10-15 minutes in length. Families, children, infants, and pets are welcome. After each session customers will be able to view each image and select print packages. Each package includes a variety of popular sizes and varying quantities. There is also the option of adding on additional prints to customize your order. Additionally, all photos from the event will be posted at Irene Jones Photography Online where additional prints may be ordered individually. Proceeds from all online orders will also be donated.
The goal for this event is to raise $10,000 on behalf of the American Red Cross. This money will then go directly to helping the charity send relief supplies, mobilize relief workers, and provide financial resources.
According to the American Red Cross Donor Bulletin, “Currently almost 1.2 million are still without any shelter as hurricane season approaches. The threats increase daily as poor living conditions add to the spread of disease. On February 3, the American Red Cross coordinated the shipment of 350 units of blood to Haiti. In total, 1,100 units of blood have been sent to Haiti by the Red Cross and our partners to help treat earthquake victims. A major vaccination program has begun to vaccinate more than 250,000 children, ages 6 weeks to 7 years, against measles, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and tetanus. This campaign also includes psychosocial support, community health and hygiene promotion activities, and will initially target displaced persons in settlement sites in the capital before expanding to other affected areas. Additionally, Red Cross health facilities have grown to see approximately 1,200 patients per day, with around 9,000 seen since the Red Cross relief operation began on January 12.”
Appointments for the Helping Haiti Through Photography Event are suggested, but walk-ins are also welcome to attend. All sessions including pets require an appointment. No groupings over 5 people please.
